For the Fifth time in a row, Aspire Zone Foundation is renewing the fantastic opportunity to race up the staircase of the iconic “THE TORCH DOHA” in “Aspire Torch Staircase Run 2016 – Earth Hour Edition.

In honor of Earth Hour, we invite you to power up and beat the enthusiastic tower runners from your community all the way to the top, because there is no other way but up!
What is Aspire Torch Staircase Run
In 2015 Aspire Torch Staircase run was awarded official Grand Prix status and attracted a capacity field of 350 runners including some of the best international stair runners from Europe, USA and Australia. The Towerunning World Championships 2015 was the highlight of last year’s edition as it is an opportunity for the community and for the best Tower runners from all over the world to compete on the sport’s first Global Championship. However, the 2016 Torch Staircase Run is being targeted at community athletes only, so if you think you have what it takes to run up the Torch please follow the link below.
About the race
The grueling route will consist of 1,304 steps as runners will have to make their way to the top of the 300 meter tower on the 51st floor.
The race will take place on 19th March. The race is open to all participants who are at least 16 years and older of all abilities. Participants are encouraged to undertake intensive training prior to the race.

This year’s event is exclusively reserved to the community with up to 400 Registrants available and will feature a wide range of activities to celebrate ‘Earth Hour’.
Race Categories include:
- Open Male (18yrs – 39yrs)
- Open Female (18yrs – 39yrs)
- Veteran Male (40+yrs)
- Veteran Female (40+yrs)
- Junior Male (16yrs – 17yrs)
- Junior Female (16yrs – 17yrs)
- Open Waiter /Waitress Challenge (This is a closed category for Waiter/Waitresses only – The purpose of the challenge is to time a waiter/waitress with a tray of beverages to race up the Torch Tower – Fastest time wins a prize – Invitation only through AL Hospitality.)
- “Go Green” Fun Earth Hour themed costume (Open category for 16 years and older. Costume using any recycled materials - For Fun. Best Costume wins a prize!)
Earth Hour Activities include:
Recycling themed competition for children to participate in throughout the race. Participants will unleash their creativity by using recyclable materials, such as bottles, plastic bags, and cardboard for a chance to win spot prizes.
During the earth hour initiative the Torch Doha will turn off all of the external lights, once the lights are off, participants will enjoy night glow bike rides starting from the Torch and gravel around Aspire Zone.
