Aspire Zone Foundation has just inaugurated its new 5
a-side football pitches and made them available for the local community all
week long from 4 – 11 pm. The new pitches are just 200 meters away from the
Ladies Club and can accommodate 10 people maximum at a time.
The new community fields meet the highest FIFA quality
standards for turf, using 2 star grade. This type of turf is used for top
clubs, stadia, and international matchplay, like the UEFA Champions League.
They are tested specifically for two criteria: skin abrasion and friction if
the player slides.
Additionally, a foam shock pad is laid underneath the
artificial turf to offer more cushion for the players. The pitches have been
recycled from an old decommissioned pitch. This is not AZF’s first
ecofriendly
gesture. For example, the cottages at Aspire Park are made of ooredoo’s (previously
called Q-tel) old wooden poles.
This addition comes as part of AZF’s mission and community
programs that aim to establish a sports and physical activity culture within
the local community. These efforts are also in line with the Foundation’s contribution
to Qatar National Vision 2030 for the benefit of the next generation and for a
better future.
